Seven pages that move between the two kinds of clock. Pages 1 to 3 have twelve analog clocks each, with a digital clock under each one to write the time: whole hours on page 1, half and quarter hours on page 2, and five-minute times on page 3. Page 4 shows twelve digital times to write in words (one o'clock, half past four), with the first one done and the number words in a box. Page 5 turns it around: draw the hands for twelve digital times. Page 6 matches six analog clocks to six digital clocks with lines, and page 7 asks whether everyday times, like eating lunch at 12:15 or going to bed at 8:30, are a.m. or p.m.
Start with page 1 for the whole class, then hand out pages 2 and 3 as students are ready: they climb from hours to five minutes. Page 6 makes a quick exit ticket. Before page 7, ask what the class does at 8:30 in the morning and at 8:30 at night, and why the clock alone cannot tell them apart.
If your home has both kinds of clock, such as a wall clock and a microwave or phone, ask your child to read both and check that they say the same time.
