The unit test on odd and even numbers, equal groups and arrays. Pages 1 and 2 are Form A. Pages 3 and 4 are Form B: the same questions in the same order with different numbers, for a retake, a make-up or a second seating. Each form has 12 questions, one point each, and a Score line on its first page. Equal groups and arrays are written as repeated addition, such as 4 + 4 + 4 = 12, never with a times sign. The pre-check and the unit review are packs of their own.
Give Form A the day after the unit review. Questions 10 to 12 (repeating patterns, growing patterns and sharing equally) are taught in 2nd grade in some states: leave out the ones your class does not learn and score out of what is left. The answer keys name each question's skill, so a missed question points to the lesson to reteach.
Use Form B as a check after the unit. Pair up socks, shoes or snacks to see whether one is left over, and look for arrays at home: an egg carton, a muffin pan, a window with panes. Ask how many rows, how many in each row, and how many in all.
